About CYL and Abba's Coffee House

So, what is Abba's?
Abba's IS NOT a church or youth group. It is a "CoffeeHouse." A place for youth to go, where they will be welcome, even if they don't always have the cash to be customers. We strive to introduce youth who have no church home, or are disconnected from that support, to area youth groups. We use Christian music as a catalyst to establish relationships that will allow us to have a positive impact and build a bridge for youth back to the area churches.
While Abba's has a snack counter and uses proceeds from the snack counter to pay for entertainment and bands, Abba's and CYL have NO paid employees. Everyone is a volunteer.
Abba's is a place for youth to go that is non threatening and strives to offer an intimidation free, tobacco free, drug free, weapons free, violence free and profanity free environment. These activities are not tolerated in the facility or on it's grounds are grounds for dismissal from the property (please read the Guest Statement), and further civil actions if warranted. We recognize the need and responsibility to show our Christian values through service to all area youth.... believers or not, and we acknowledge that many of our area youth have no exposure to these values. We endeavor to be a witness to them through example.

Mission Statement
CYL coordinates and promotes activities for the youth of the DuBois area in an atmosphere of Christian beliefs and morals, through events outside the normal spectrum, or beyond the scope of the church youth group. CYL provides support for all youth leaders and youth pastors by providing a regular forum for youth leaders to exchange ideas and share best practices. CYL is breaking down denominational walls while working toward a common goal of faith in Jesus Christ.
Vision
CYL has been called to engage in creative ministry providing opportunities for youth, youth leaders, and youth pastors to engage and experience the transforming power of Jesus Christ in their lives.
Abba's Coffee House
Mission Statement
Abba's Coffee House provides a place for youth to be, a place they can call their own, a place where they are in a Christian atmosphere. Abba's Coffee House utilizes Christian principles in developing organizational and leadership skills; to learn to foster cooperation and responsibility in developing and operating a business enterprise; to grow with adult mentors sharing the love of Jesus Christ with friends and non- believers.
Vision
Abba's Coffee House exists that all Du Bois area youth may:
Know the love of God in Jesus Christ.
Grow as leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ.
Grow in experience and the Joy of Jesus.
Grow to be loving, participating, contributing citizent, knowing the difference between right and wrong, and having the strength to act accordingly.
